SPGPrints appoints ColorScreen as southern Africa agents for its rotary screen label printing division

SPGPrints has appointed ColorScreen (Pty) as agents for southern Africa. The company will supply SPGPrints’ rotary screen printing technologies, principally for label printing applications.

Employing 21 full-time staff at offices in Cape Town and Durban, and supported by sub-distributors across the region, ColorScreen will provide a fast, local supply of rotary screens and related consumable products, technical consultancy, training programmes and maintenance. Additionally, the Cape Town facility will provide a fast engraving service for re-imaging SPGPrints’ RotaMesh® non-woven nickel screens.

ColorScreen has represented several leading machine and materials suppliers in the graphics, screen, pad and digital printing industries since it was established in 1981, by Hans Vogt.

SPGPrints’ rotary screen printing technology has enabled converters supplying consumer goods, wines and spirits markets to incorporate a variety of added-value features that give labels and packages a distinctive look and feel. High-impact effects include glossy, matte and tactile varnishes, vibrant colours, rich opaque colours, metallic effects and functional features from braille to anti-counterfeit solutions.

Headquartered in Boxmeer, The Netherlands, SPGPrints provides comprehensive solutions, including integration printing modules, rotary screens and imaging systems. These allow label and packaging printers to adopt the workflow for a low ownership cost and fast return on investment. Retrofittable RSI® (Rotary Screen Integration®) units perform seamlessly inline with other printing processes including flexo, offset, gravure and letterpress. Non-woven nickel re-engraveable RotaMesh® and reusable RotaPlate® screens offer durability and stability at high speeds. Digital imaging systems include the rotaLEN 7511, a direct CO2 laser engraving system for rotary screens up to 914mm wide with resolutions up to 5080dpi without film, and the variLEX hybrid CtP processor, a single, digital imaging solution for flexo, dry-offset, screen and letterpress imaging.

SPGPrints’ complete rotary screen solutions, including its new RotaMesh Glitter Screen, can be seen at Labelexpo Europe, Brussels, Belgium, at stand 4C20, 25th – 28th September 2017.
