The FINAT Printer-to-Printer Seminar, formerly known as Technical Seminar, is a biennial event which is designed to give an update on the latest status with regards to legislation, materials science, converting technology as well as application requirements and is targeted at all levels of the technical community from R&D or production to technical directors & executives. Topics are all presented by expert speakers, who aim to offer delegates input which can be used in their own companies to create more efficient and profitable future business. The programme of the Technical Seminar is developed by the FINAT secretariat and the Technical Seminar working group of the Knowledge workstream.
FINAT P2P Seminar 2024 – “Narrow Web 4.0: The Future of the Narrow Web Industry”
From 20 – 22 November 2024, Barcelona was the stage for the FINAT P2P Seminar, where industry leaders, innovators, and experts gathered to explore the future of the narrow web industry under the theme “The Future of the Narrow Web Industry”.
The programme combined committee and member meetings, networking opportunities, and a packed seminar agenda with three in-depth sessions:

Sustainability & Legislation – Updates on EU environmental regulations, recyclability testing, eco-design guidelines, and the role of self-adhesive materials in meeting the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.

Innovations in Materials, Printing & Converting – From bio-based adhesives and digital printing advances to on-demand metallization and automation in coating, laminating, and traceability.

Future Developments in Label Production – Exploring hybrid and linerless label solutions, automation and cloud-based workflows, modular press designs, and the path towards fully automated, high-efficiency converting.
Keynote speakers addressed AI’s economic impact, global label market trends, and the technologies shaping the next decade. Panel discussions encouraged interaction, while networking lunches, dinners, and an exhibition created opportunities for collaboration.
The event closed with a forward-looking keynote on how the label industry can adapt to technological, regulatory, and market shifts, ensuring relevance, sustainability, and innovation in the years ahead.
