Inception Impact Assessment for REACH and CLP review

The European Commission started Roadmap public consultations for the review of the REACH and CLP regulations, as part of the actions within the Chemical Strategy for Sustainability. Both consultations are open until June 1.

The REACH review proposes improvements in the communication of risks of chemicals in the supply chain, introducing a mixture assessment factor, reforming the authorisation and restriction processes (including the concept of "essential uses"), and better enforcement tools for authorities.

The revision of CLP Regulation aims, among others, at introducing new hazard classes for endocrine disruptors, setting additional labelling requirements, defining additional rules for e-commerce, mandatory notifications to poison centres, and allowing multilingual fold-out labels.
