UPM Raflatac packages glam, brand protection and environmental performance at the PCD Perfume, Cosmetics & Design event

UPM Raflatac is showcasing its latest product innovations for personal care and cosmetics labelling at the annual PCD meeting for perfume and cosmetics packaging experts. The exhibition takes place on 4-5 February in Paris. UPM Raflatac’s Label Experts offer visitors a warm welcome at stand AA21 in Hall 1.

Raflex MDO film for contoured, premium looks
UPM Raflatac’s Raflex MDO is the perfect choice for companies in the personal care and cosmetics industries looking to differentiate their products with a long-lasting, premium looks. By combining the most desirable qualities of supple PE and high-clarity PP, Raflex MDO Clear is the solution for a seamless no-label look on contoured and squeezable containers. Raflex MDO White offers exceptional opacity as a foundation for high-quality decoration. Both products support excellent print work and take a squeeze time after time.

On a thin PET23 release liner, the 50-micron Raflex MDO offers a 40% reduction in thickness and weight compared to conventional 85-micron PE85 on an HD70 liner. This reduces total applied costs, starting with more labels per roll for fewer roll changes and higher productivity in conversion and dispensing. PET23 is also an efficient choice for running at high speeds and in humid conditions.

Security and authentication – protecting brands and revenues
Security labelling authenticates high-value goods to consumers and protects brands and revenues. A number of security and traceability features can be combined on a single label – simple or complex, visible or hidden. UPM Raflatac provides a comprehensive range of solutions to reveal attempts at product tampering and safeguard luxury goods from counterfeiting and diversion.

RafCycle® for environmental performance and operational efficiency
When evaluating the sustainability of packaging, the most important factors are materials efficiency at the start of the label lifecycle, for instance by using sustainably sourced and thinner materials, and treatment at the end of life. Recycling with UPM Raflatac’s RafCycle® waste management program means that waste from label conversion and dispensing that would usually go to landfill is given a new life – as UPM ProFi® wood-plastic composite, paper or energy. By providing alternatives to landfilling and the associated costs, RafCycle® offers label converters, packers and brand owners opportunities to manage their businesses more sustainably, efficiently and profitably.
