Tetraglyme solvent in SVHC list

ECHA included the solvent Tetraglyme, also known as bis(2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethyl)ether) (CAS 143-24-8/EC 205-594-7) in the Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHC). This substance could be used as a solvent in inks or toners.

Substances listed as SVHCs may be placed on the Authorization List in the future, which would require a specific authorization under REACH to continue their use. Additionally, any supplier of an article containing a SVHC substance in a concentraction higher that 0.1% in weight is required to inform their customers and consumers on the conditions of safe use, and need to notify the presence in the article in the SCIP database.
