The pharmaceutical packaging industry places the highest demands on accuracy, legibility, and safety. Even the smallest er-ror in writing or graphics can lead to costly rework, regulatory problems, and loss of customer confidence. "We aim to monitor production as reliably as possi-ble, which is why we carry out a thorough inspection after every single process step within pro-duction," says Andreas Hug, Team Lead Print Service at Faller Packaging, explaining the initial situation. To avoid economic damage caused by defective products and simultaneously in-crease efficiency and process reliability, Faller was seeking a digital solution capable of relia-bly detecting the smallest devia-tions.

When selecting a suitable inspec-tion solution, Faller Packaging placed particular emphasis on user-friendliness, flexibility and future-proofing. “An important criterion was that the inspection system should be simple and clearly structured to minimize any sources of error during operation,” emphasizes Hug. The aim was to implement a system that reliably detects quality defects, meets the high pharmaceutical standards and at the same time supports the efficiency of the production process. The decision was ultimately made in favor of EyeC GmbH and the scanner-based offline inspec-tion system EyeC Proofiler 1200 DT. The system impressed with its ease of use, quick familiariza-tion, flexible adaptation of the in-spection parameters for different requirements and high image resolution for precise de-tection of even the smallest devi-ations. "The combination of high-performance technology, a high level of expertise within the company, and a reliable partner-ship was ultimately decisive for our investment," says Hug.
Seamless Integration: Two Systems for Maximum Coverage
The EyeC Proofiler system was integrated at two plants in the Print Service division at the Wald-kirch site. Each system combines intelligent software with a high-resolution flatbed scanner and enables objective, reproducible quality control of texts, colors, graphics and codes. To do this, the Proofiler 1200 DT digitally compares the print products against approved PDF templates and checks both print quality and content accuracy. "The inspec-tion system is used after the printing process to ensure the quality of our products. The last printed sheet of each individual job is always checked," says Andreas Hug, explaining the spe-cific area of application. The intuitive operation enabled the employees to quickly familiarize themselves with the system without extensive training.

The introduction of the EyeC in-spection systems has led to sig-nificant improvements in quality assurance. Thanks to the strate-gic positioning in the production process, quality problems can be identified at an early stage before defective products reach downstream processes. "The inspection system ensures that only flawless goods are sent for further processing," confirms Andreas Hug. “This allows us to streamline rejects and rework, increase customer satisfaction and at the same time optimize the efficiency of our production processes.” High image resolution and flexible parameter settings also ensure consistently high-quality standards, even with the most diverse product requirements.

At the same time, the system's future-proof architecture opens up further expansion options and integration potential for the company, for example, through additional automation or even deeper integration with other production systems.
