Polyonics Introduces FMVSS 302 Flame Retardant Label Materials

Polyonics manufactures a family of flame retardant materials that helps prevent the propagation of fire in automotive under-the-hood and interior labeling applications. The materials are UL94 VTM-0 rated and third party tested to the FMVSS 302 automotive burn standard. They are thermal transfer and flexographic ink printable and range from a low cost polyester (PET) XF-611 to a high temperature polyimide XF-603. The XF-603 is also rated to the UL94 V0 standard, offers low smoke and toxicity and has an operational temperature of 260°C while the XF-611 operates at 150°C.

Durable Fire Prevention
Polyonics flame retardant label materials provide superior ink reception for long lasting high contrast printing. Their durable print surfaces don't fade or yellow when exposed to the high temperatures, abrasion and harsh chemicals typical of under the hood and interior applications. The materials include aggressive flame retardant PSAs.

Material   Construction   Performance
 XF-603 38μm semi-gloss white polyimide/ 28μm acrylic PSA  UL 969 and UL 94 VTM-0/V0 rated, FMVSS 302 and BSS 7238/7239 tested, 260°C operational temperature
 XF-611  38μm semi-gloss white PET/ 28μm acrylic PSA UL 969 and UL94 VTM-0 rated, FMVSS 302 tested,150° operational temperature

FlameGard™ Technology
Polyonics label materials use FlameGard™ technology, a combination of PIN-based chemical and physical mechanisms, to control heat, oxygen and flammable gases and help prevent the propagation of fire.

Rigorous Testing to Industries Most Demanding Standards
Polyonics XF-603 and XF-611 label materials are halogen free, REACH and RoHS compliant and recognized by UL969 and UL94. They are also tested for compliance to the FMVSS 302 automotive burn standard with the XF-603 also tested to the BSS 7238 and 7239 for low smoke and toxicity.
