OMET act to a great 2014

The year of the 50th Anniversary of OMET was marked by a huge number of events and the name OMET resound internationally as synonymous of expertise and know-how built along the way of the last 50 years in the industry. 2014 promises to be just as full of events and news.

OMET is starting 2014 with revived spirit conscious there are major projects to kick-off, increasingly greater parts of the globe to attend and lots of customers’ requests to fulfil. To this aim, the company is, once again, empowering its sales force globally while the company’s research and development team is at work to take to conclusion a few major projects inspired on our customers’ needs and having the objective to help them be successful with their clientele. Feasibility studies and work on special products and applications are further day-by-day activities in the company.

OMET is deciding these days the organization of two open houses at its premises in Lecco in 2014. Open houses dates will be announced soon and they will be centred on the launch of new products and solutions to support the growth of the converters worldwide.

Having said about the novelties expected for 2014, let’s make a revision of the major successes of 2013.

THE FISCAL YEAR 2013

For the fourth year in a row OMET announces the greatest performance ever. The whole OMET Group has reached 76 million euro of turnover. The machines division of OMET Srl, based in Lecco, Italy, marked an increase in income with respect to the previous year of a fair 9 percent.

This exceptional result endorses the solidity of the Italian company, adds further value to the brand and, although not necessary, reconfirms the generational change at the lead of the company as perfectly successful.

Sales cover every area of the globe, including the most remote even though, OMET’s largest penetration is in the US, Latin America, South Pacific Asia and Eastern Europe. Not to forget the important market share OMET still holds in Italy today.

These results are the most obvious sign of a clear leadership in the printing and packaging market which is based on a solid reputation of excellence in the management of multi-process and hybrid technology, a high quality post-sales assistance and service and continuous innovation.
On the other side, the tissue converting sector – where OMET’s leadership in the production of napkins machines is indisputable – confirms and improves year by year its performance in Italy, and at a strong pace spreads all over Europe and outside.

THE EVENTS OF 2013

Together with the participation to last year’s major exhibitions of the tissue converting business – that is to say, Tissue World, IT’s Tissue, MIAC, - and the printing one – Converflex, China Print, Labelexpo Asia, Labelexpo Europe – the company hosted the Anniversary celebrations at its premises on May 10th to 12th 2013.

Celebrations included a press conference to which a selected number of Italian and international magazines and newspapers were invited, the launch of the company monograph book “50 years of passion and excellence” (which will be soon published for sale by Franco Angeli Editore, Italy, and whose proceeds will be donated in support of cancer patients and their families through a local non-profit organization) and a two-day VIP event including the visit to OMET Group’s premises, a boat excursion on the lake, a conference and a gala dinner with customers coming from the five continents. The event saw also the participation of a few partnering companies as sponsors: Control Techniques, SPG Prints, Erhardt+Leimer, Martin Automatic, Euroincis, Sun Chemical, IST Metz and Avery Dennison.

The anniversary staged many in-house events dedicated to all the collaborators of OMET including a Photo Contest which originated the 12 pictures of the company’s calendar for 2013, the Omettiadi, non-professional sports team happening involving all the companies of the OMET Group, and the Family Day, open door event for the families of the employees.
All the events registered a full participation and were an occasion of productive networking, education and fun.

The major outcome of the 50th Anniversary is the confirmation of the confidence customers, suppliers, employees and the community have in the company and the appreciation of its solidity as a group and as a family and the capability to stay firm, loyal to its values and work principles, when it is most needed.

RECENT PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

OMET launched two products in 2013: XFlex X6 offset press and FV Line family of tissue converting machines. Both projects were designed with a goal in mind: complete the range of available technologies in OMET’s catalog and increase its appeal.

XFlex X6 offset is the natural addition to the company’s multi-process offer – which already includes flexo, gravure, silkscreen and digital inkjet. The demand for full performance machines bridging the label and the flexible packaging businesses convinced OMET of the need of expanding into offset and on larger widths (530 mm/21’’ in the XFlex series and 850 mm/33’’ in the Varyflex series). The XFlex X6 530 aims at ensuring a greater flexibility of the machine in terms of reception of print jobs and production volumes and generally offer a better cost management. XFlex X6 so becomes the ideal press for companies working in the flexible packaging business handling longer runs or using offset as a benchmark for print consistency and quality.
The FV Line, presented for the first time during the event “It’s Tissue” at the end of June 2013 – of which OMET is one of the founders – uses vacuum technology to fold tissue for the production of
different types of napkins, including the ones needing the so-called “napkin dispenser” fold. The FV Line is a fully automatic machine whose ergonomics allows to reduce to a minimum the operator’s intervention and keep the control on production complete.
