Nilpeter demonstrates commitment to the Indian market

At LabelExpo India 2012, Ajanta Packaging, a Mumbai-based label printer, bought their second FB-3300S. Mr. Chandan Khanna, Managing Director of Ajanta Packaging explains: ”We offer a full range of labelling solutions through a combination of waterless offset, narrow web flexo and screen printing in a highly competitive market. We gain our competitive edge by acquiring state-of-the-art presses, and Nilpeter presses fit the bill”.

Nilpeter recognises the need for local presence in India who sees a double-digit market growth. Jakob Landberg, Sales & Marketing Director at Nilpeter, says, “India has tremendous potential to be one of the fastest growing markets in the world with an unexploited potential. The average consumption of labels in India is less than 1 m2 per capita – compared to 10 m2 in Europe.'” And he adds, “For Nilpeter, it is only natural to attend LabelExpo India. Both appearance and attendance improve steadily show on show. Nilpeter is committed to supporting the event and the strategic, important Indian label industry”.

Expanding the business
Alan Barretto, Managing Director of Nilpeter India comments, “We have been manufacturing label presses in Chennai for four years, and we are moving into brand new facilities in Chennai in January with larger capacity to meet the demand. A part of the plan is to establish a local Training Center where customers can get hands-on experience with Nilpeter’s advances in technology and see first-hand how they benefit the Indian printer.”

And Mr. Barretto adds, “We see a shift in the market. The customers are looking for customisation to differentiate themselves in the labels and flexible packaging they supply. Our presses are custom-made for special applications. It is all about the ability to add unique combinations and features such as gravure, hot foiling, die-cutting, etc.”.

At LabelExpo India, Nilpeter presented the 10-colour FB-3300S flexo press built at Nilpeters facilities in Chennai. The servo-driven flexo press was equipped with a special die-cutting unit in between the printing units to allow for hot foil applications. The FB-3300S is a robust workhorse designed to produce labels of superior quality. The short web path minimises waste, directly benefitting the bottom line. With the development and manufacturing of the FB-3300S, Nilpeter focuses on high printing efficiency combined with low production costs.

According to the organisers, LabelExpo India 2012 was the largest and most successful show to date.
