New thermal paper from HERMA Self-Adhesive Materials division: First rate for humidity

• HERMAtherm top M (grade 912) is ideally suited for weight/price labelling of pre-packed foods.
• Very good results when labels are applied to humid surfaces and when subsequently exposed to the effects of humidity.
• The label stock can be coated with all permanent HERMA adhesives.

Consumers are increasingly choosing to buy their fresh meat, sausage and cheese products in pre-packed form. A major priority for the food industry and retail sector is therefore to have reliable, high-quality label materials that lend themselves well to initial pre-printing and subsequent overprinting with the variable weight and/or price data. This poses a particular challenge because of the demanding ambient conditions which often prevail when the labels are being applied and printed with variable data. This has prompted HERMA to offer a special new, white thermal paper in the shape of HERMAtherm top M (grade 912). Enhanced by a protecting coating, the bisphenol A (BPA)-free material's advantages come into play wherever thermal labels made from smudge-proof, solvent- and grease-resistant paper are required. It gives very good results both when labels are being applied to humid surfaces, as well as when subsequently exposed to the effects of humidity. Its superior whiteness compared to the predecessor material HERMAtherm top R (grade 918) and improved thermal printability make it highly suitable for EAN and UPC codes. Since the material is less susceptible to scratching, this aids barcode reading accuracy. An important factor for pre-printing is the smooth surface of HERMAtherm top M, which also delivers improved print quality with all the classic printing methods.

Available with the full range of net width services
Print speeds of up to 200 mm/s are possible with direct thermal printing. HERMAtherm top M can be coated with all HERMA's permanent adhesives to suit the relevant application and requirements. At the same time, label printers can benefit from all the familiar net width services right from the start.
