New SpearRC video highlights fact that most pressure sensitive labels make bottles unrecyclable

Are your labels contaminating the recycling process? The fact is that most pressure sensitive labels make PET bottles unrecyclable. According to the Association for Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers (APR), many pressure sensitive labels contaminate the recycling process because the adhesive sticks to the bottle and/or the ink bleeds into the wash water. Some products have come on the market to solve these issues, but historically they have been significantly more expensive than standard pressure sensitive labels.

Constantia Flexibles’ proprietary award-winning formula has resulted in SpearRC, a fully recyclable and cost effective pressure sensitive label. This new video showcases the impact of a brand’s label decision on the environment and begs the question – with all the benefits of traditional pressure sensitive labels, including low cost, and none of the contamination, why wouldn’t you make the switch?

“We believe that if brands really understood the environmental impact of a non-recyclable label, they would not hesitate to do the right thing and switch to SpearRC. We just need to bring it to their attention,” said Dan Muenzer, VP of Marketing for Constantia Flexibles. “We are proud of our groundbreaking technology and its ability to drive sustainability for our clients.”
