MPS Shows America True Process Automation at Labelexpo 2012

Event highlights include live demonstrations on the latest MPS EF-410 flexo press and a joint demonstration with Kodak and Reproflex3 to present spotless technology in flexographic printing

DIDAM, The Netherlands (September 25, 2012) – MPS today announced a successful participation at Labelexpo Americas 2012 held in Chicago earlier this month. During the exhibition, MPS presented live demonstrations of their EF-410 8-colour press showcasing not only press automation, but also pre-press and die-cutting automation. On the second day of the show, MPS partnered with Kodak and Reproflex3 for an exciting “Do More with 4” live press demo to demonstrate the power of spot color reduction for everyday flexographic print production, featuring KODAK FLEXCEL NX Plates and the KODAK SPOTLESS Flexographic Solution, together with the MPS EF-410 Press. The live demonstrations attracted a large audience to the MPS stand.

Press demonstrations were led by Chip, who controlled the EF-410 press with the use of an iPad. Visitors were impressed with the print quality and smart technology of the EF-410 press. Also demonstrated was high automation in press settings including saving jobs into Job Memory. The audience selected which design or material would run through the press and witnessed the ease and speed of several design and material changes, taking only a few minutes.

MPS also introduced its next generation Automated Print Control, named Automated Process Control (APC) technology at Labelexpo 2012. APC provides true automation to the press, automating daily printing processes on a printer’s production floor. The APC product offering from MPS includes APC-plate mounting, APC-print settings and APC-die cutting. With APC, all print processes can be efficiently controlled at every stage from the beginning of pre-press through job completion where labels are applied to end products.

In addition to demonstrations on the EF-410 press, MPS also gave live demonstrations of their new automatic plate mounter: APC-plate mounting. Visitors to the MPS stand could witness how plates were mounted automatically on print cylinders or sleeves by using an optical measurement system. Enthusiastic reaction from the crowd and numerous leads following the presentations indicates a positive reception to this new way of plate mounting.

Also exhibited in the MPS stand was the EXL packaging press technology, which is an ergonomic mid- web printing and converting machine. The technology was equipped with hot air tunnel dryers, which can be used for solvent and/or water based inks.

Commercial Director Eric Hoendervangers of MPS commented: “MPS looks back on Labelexpo Americas 2012 as a successful show and is pleased with the number of new inquiries and machines sold.”
