Marzek Labels+Packaging presents innovative sales-promoting labels and packaging solutions for successful wine marketing

At Austro Vin Tulln 2026, the label and packaging specialist from Traiskirchen impressed trade fair visitors with the latest finishing techniques, modern printing substrates, innovative labelling technology, complete solutions for thermal transfer and inkjet printers, and high-quality fine cardboard packaging for the successful marketing of their wines.

One of the many highlights at the Marzek Etiketten+Packaging stand was the thermochromic label for ‘Zweigelt – FREDDO – der Kühle Rote’ (Zweigelt – FREDDO – the cool red) from the Nittnaus brothers' winery in Gols on Lake Neusiedl. Thermochromic dyes are used on the label to indicate when this red wine has developed its full aroma – ideally at a temperature of 10-12 degrees Celsius. The grapes in the Nittnaus logo then turn blue. The words ‘Perfectly tempered’ also appear in blue under the product name. "We are delighted to have been able to attend Austro Vin Tulln again this year to present our innovative sales-promoting label and packaging solutions to a knowledgeable trade audience. For example, we showcased our thermochromic label, which was recently awarded the coveted Golden Pixel Award trophy," comments Stefanie Wareka, MSc, MSc, 5th generation Marzek, on the company's recent presence at Austro Vin Tulln.

Specialist lecture

Thermochromic labels and other innovative finishing techniques were also the subject of a well-attended keynote speech at Austro Vin Tulln on 31 January. Dr Johannes Michael Wareka and Stefanie Wareka, MSc, MSc, used practical examples to show how wine-growing businesses can successfully showcase their products in a sustainable manner. In a lively exchange with the expert moderator Prof. (FH) Marcus Wieschhoff, programme director for the Master's in International Wine Marketing at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland, current trends and specific applications were discussed.

Successful wine marketing

Another highlight at the Marzek Etiketten+Packaging stand were the no-label labels. These transparent labels give the impression that the design and information are printed directly onto the bottle.

Interesting special effects, windows and special shapes enrich every label creation. Wine bottles are given a particularly airy and elegant appearance, especially when special accents are added with exclusive designs, high-quality foil embossing, sophisticated relief screen printing, selected varnishes and other finishing techniques.

"Another advantage of these interesting label solutions is their absolute moisture resistance and washability, which allows reusable bottles to be reused. Without any lye, simply with water at a temperature above 75 degrees, the labels curl up and fall off by themselves – without leaving any residue or contaminating the wash water, because the ink and adhesive remain on the label," explains Stefanie Wareka, MSc, MSc.

Complete solutions for thermal transfer and inkjet printers

Another topic was complete solutions for thermal transfer and inkjet printers, which, in addition to high-quality label printers, naturally also include sales-promoting labels, matching accessories, professional service and expert advice.

Positive results

After three intensive days at the trade fair, Stefanie Wareka, MSc, MSc, draws a positive conclusion: "As in previous years, Austro Vin Tulln has once again fully met our expectations: the many discussions with winegrowers help us to further develop our products and services and tailor them even better to their needs. The exciting discussions with representatives of the wine industry were also very valuable."
