Labelexpo 2013 – Gallus exhibits digital print solution for short and variable runs

-Linoprint L from Heidelberg integrated into Gallus Print Shop for hybrid label production
- Higher quality thanks to new digital front end

The Gallus Group will be presenting the Linoprint L drop-on-demand system from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG at Labelexpo, which will be held in Brussels from 24-27 September, 2013. This will be the first time that Gallus has exhibited the technology at a trade show since it acquired the sales licence in June 2013. Two of the digital printing systems in different working widths will be given the task of producing challenging variable short runs at the Gallus Group stand, 5B50. While the 210 mm system and the Gallus ECS C will be integrated into the Gallus Print Shop for hybrid label production, the 315 mm system will give visitors an insight into the higher print quality made
possible by the new digital front end.

Other outstanding features of the system include zero waste following interruptions to the production run, precise insetting on pre-diecut rolls and a printing speed of up to 48 m/min. which, in tandem with the maximum printing width of 315 mm, ensures optimum productivity in digital
printing. The Linoprint L thus augments Gallus's existing portfolio of flexographic, offset and screen printing solutions by adding a digital printing solution that is able to deliver cost-effective printing of  short and/or variable runs in the label sector.

Thanks to its UV inkjet technology with 600 dpi native resolution, the Heidelberg Linoprint L digital print system delivers high quality four-colour prints with fonts down to 2 point and hidden security elements. The Heidelberg Prinect Digital Print Manager Label ¡X the new digital front end
developed specifically by Heidelberg for this digital printing system draws on the Prinect workflow technology already in successful use in offset printing for over ten years and supports the use of Heidelberg colour management. The new front end has greatly increased performance when
ripping with a wide range of screen types and when processing variable data. The unique system for cutting substrate consumption enables zero waste following breaks in the production run or hard proofs on the press and, in tandem with the compact design, minimises web travel. All this results in very low waste levels compared to all other narrow-web digital printing systems on the market. With print speeds of up to 48 m/min. in four-colour mode and excellent register accuracy, the machine is ideal for printing pre-diecut and, where necessary, pre-printed labels (slim rolls) or for short runs of labels with low levels of finishing for business, foodstuffs, dairy products and the technical / industrial sectors.

In particular, precise insetting on pre-diecut rolls, high reliability and the impressive productivity of the Heidelberg Linoprint L digital printing system fully meet the high requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, the sector that served as the model for the original product development. Other key benefits include the compact design, the easy-to-clean stainless steel casing, and the machine's complete encapsulation, which ensures excellent ergonomics, clean working conditions and good access to the inside of the machine. The system also features automated print head cleaning. Ink curing is performed exclusively by UV LED drying systems with a service life well in excess of 10,000 operating hours. These minimise the level of heat introduced into the substrate and thus the amount of cooling required for thinner substrates, while also enabling ozone-free operation. Extensive job records can also be drawn up for end-to-end documentation.
