HERMA Self-adhesive Materials: New beginnings in the Middle East

• For the first time, HERMA Self-adhesive Materials has named an exclusive sales partner for the markets of the Levant.
• Wassim Khatib operates from Beirut.
• „The packaging industry in the Middle East is receiving interesting growth impulses. Therefore, demand for self-adhesive materials to produce labels is also increasing.”

HERMA’s Self-adhesive Materials division is expanding to the Middle East for the first time: Wassim Khatib is now an exclusive HERMA sales partner for self-adhesive materials in the Levant and surrounding regions. The Syrian-born representative operates from the Lebanese capital Beirut. In addition to Lebanon, he will focus on markets such as Syria and Jordan. Harald Wallner, in charge of international sales of self-adhesive materials at HERMA, points to the considerable opportunities offered by the region: “Despite all problems and crises, the Middle East is a region with increasing purchasing power, a relatively young and growing population, and a clear trend towards urbanization. Trade structures are also developing rapidly. These factors are interesting growth impulses for the packaging industry. This means that the demand for self-adhesive materials to produce labels will grow automatically.”

According to Wassim Khatib, however, this growth will not unfold equally across all industry branches. “We expect that demand for labels will increase especially regarding food packaging, pharmaceutical products, and industrial applications”, he says. “For these fields, HERMA has developed very interesting self-adhesive materials that facilitate further processing for label production and increase user benefits without being classified as special materials. This is exactly what many label printers in the region are looking for.”
