Flint Group Press release: Launch of PreCoat FMET P13 AE

the next generation of PVC and PVDC-free primer for metallised films and AlOx coated polyester (PET).

Flint Group is pleased to announce the launch of an innovative single-component primer that provides a very strong adhesion of nitrocellulose-based inks printed on metallised PET and OPP. Its particular chemical composition does not require the use of a cross-linker with benefits such as ease of use and reuse of press leftovers. PreCoat FMET P13 AE is also suitable for printing on AlOx coated PET providing the necessary thermal resistance and bond strength required for high-performance packaging.

Flint Group Packaging and Narrow Web Division in the EMEA region has developed this innovative primer specifically for the flexible packaging industry; PreCoat FMET P13 AE is aimed at customers interested in products in line with the latest regulations concerning the printing of packaging and its recycling. The primer does not require the use of isocyanate or any other cross-linker and is free of PVC or PVDC polymers. Showing high block resistance, it can be used with full web coverage avoiding on-register printing.

Dr Matthias Henker, Director Research and Development Flexible Packaging EMEA, says “PreCoat FMET P13 can be overprinted with a variety of ink series which increases their application range. As a purely one-component product, the primer supports improved overall equipment efficiency and waste reduction.”

PreCoat FMET P13 AE is now available for all EMEA flexible packaging converters who are printing on metallised films and AlOx coated PET materials.
