Field test of the Gallus Labelmaster at All4Labels Schweiz AG passed with flying colours

All4Labels Schweiz AG based in St. Gallen (formerly Omnipack AG) was one of the first Gal-lus customers to install the successfully launched Gallus Labelmaster in the course of a field test. Now this process was officially closed, highlighting the fact that this machine has been up and running in daily business since the first day of the field test.

In October 2016, right after the Gallus Innovation Days, the Gallus management convinced the label printer All4Labels Schweiz AG, back then known as Omnipack AG, to opt for one of the first Gallus Labelmaster available on the market in order to test the machine in the field and under proper pro-duction circumstances. Supported by Gallus technicians, this Gallus Labelmaster, equipped with 9 flexo units, was installed and put into operation in no time.

Within one year, the machine has gone through all high-quality demands of the daily printing busi-ness in serial production of commodity labels and foils. From the very beginning, the printers at All4Labels were thrilled by the intuitive handling, the fast job changes and the high speed of the ma-chine. “It is simply fantastic”, says Patrik Fehr, production manager at All4Labels. “No matter at which speed the machine runs, the printed image is always in register. The Gallus engineers really have done a great job here. What is also impressive is that we are extremely efficient and economic with this machine. Thanks to the short web path in between printing units and the fast job changes we produce less waste and are ready to print in shorter time intervals.”
The new machine platform Gallus Labelmaster offers a great product range, such as the high speed of up to 200 metres per minute, which makes the Gallus Labelmaster the fastest label press ever built.

Through a HMI touch panel, the machine can be centrally controlled, still guaranteeing easy and fast manual intervention, which shortens set-up times. The aluminium lightweight cylinders that were especially designed for this machine type can be exchanged in a few simple steps, which is another important factor for fast job changes.
The optimised ink chamber for the doctor blade only uses 250g of colour which keeps costs low and was further optimised in terms of spitting and foaming. The newly designed flexo unit is driven by two servo motors and offers Gallus premium quality from the beginning. For the design of this flexo unit, Heidelberg know-how from sheetfed offset printing was used. In addition to the flexo equip-ment, another newly developed screen printing unit is available which offers high end finishing.
Generally, the Gallus Labelmaster stands out thanks to its special platform design and is individually configurable according to the customer’s needs. With its open interfaces, the machine offers high investment security and the possibility to flexibly react to future changes in the market.

The new modular platform design is made of two printing units per module. These modules are available in three different versions: the Basic version covers all necessary standards for label print-ing. The Plus version offers a significantly higher flexibility to cover many applications in the label industry, and the Advanced line leaves nearly nothing to be desired and is configurable according to basically all needs.
