More than 440 visitors spread across 41 countries, from the Labels and Flexible Packaging Industries, came to personally meet the major industry experts involved in REVO Digital Flexo Revolution.

4 Technical Seminars and 4 “live” demonstrations per day with 4 different job changes per demo have been performed on both GIDUE Excellence presses: the GIDUE M5 Excellence 370 for Labels and the M5 Excellence 630 for Flexible Packaging. The M5 for labels has been presented with a configuration of 370mm width, 8 colors, 3 die-cutting stations and GIDUE Excellence Technology for full “digital” non-stop automatic exchange of print cylinders and die-cutting tools. The other GIDUE press was an M5 for Flexible Packaging showing a configuration of 630 mm of width, 8 colors, 1 die-cutting station, and final in-line Solventless Laminator. Technical seminars have been conducted by al REVO Experts, who presented the project and explained the most relevant technical aspects of REVO technology.

Dan Pulling, Esko Business Development Manager, commented:” To see REVO finally come to life was fantastic. Even more amazing was the interest among print converters and their suppliers to look at new possibilities in manufacturing, this is exactly why REVO was created. REVO is about combining technologies to simplify, automate and consistently produce labels or flexible packing in the most efficient way possible. As a turnkey solution, REVO provides converters a simple out of the box solution. Essentially, REVO delivers a flexo press with 1200 Pantone colors built in. “

“During the GIDUE open house activity the REVO system technology demonstrated excellent print qualities, with high consistency, high flexibility and high productivity. The concept using consequently 7 colors, within a highly standardized and automated print system, is a huge progress step for packaging and label related productions. The synergies of the involved industry partner’s results into revolutionary system functionality, with features matching market needs and expectations.” commented Friedrich Wolf, DUPONT Technology Manager Packaging Graphics Europe.

Nick Harvey, Technical Director Printing solutions EMEA of Apex Group of Companies, commented: “Consistency is the magic word within the REVO project. During the project there has been a complete openness between the team members, that has enabled each partner to make minor adjustments and modifications to their products to ensure all parameters are completely in tune. This is truly Unique. During the Open-House, Apex have been able to explain to the audience the importance that the GTT engraving plays in achieving this required level consistency. GTT is the most consistent, smooth and equal ink transfer. We are proud to be part of the entire REVO revolution, the reactions we had have been phenomenal!”

“The REVO project, including the GIDUE Open House, is a fantastic example what eight industry front line companies can do together, utilizing innovative technologies. REVO is transferring the flexibility of digital print to flexo and we naturally want to be part of this development. The GIDUE Open House was an excellent forum to bring more than 150 converters together with the project partners and to introduce the latest innovations to the market,” quoted Marko Tiainen, Business Segment Manager, Prime, from UPM Raflatac.

“It was a great feeling to see our vision behind REVO come to life and to see customer when they realized during the demonstrations how truly revolutionary REVO is. It provides tools for converters to address the needs for short run label work, offering a viable scalable alternative from ultra short runs of labels, over to a game changing way to produce flexible packaging. REVO have the solution for any converter no matter what label sector that is important to them, but we also show cased a first ever turn-key solution for the needs of the Flexible packaging industry. At Flint Group Narrow Web we are confident that through co-operation and team efforts we are able to push the boundaries forward to offer solutions that will change the industry.” commented Niklas Olsson , Flint Group Global Brand Manager.

“The unique and winning aspect to this open house was the unity and cooperation of all REVO team members. The common goal that we all strived for was clear and well received by the many hundred attendees. The AVT closed loop image based pressure control premiered at the event and demonstrated the advances in machine automation that we have developed with GIDUE. The Helios automatically controlled the make-ready to perfect pressure, hands free and to the highest quality without additional waste and without an expert printer. A great event and a big step forward for REVO and the wider flexo industry” added David Naisby, AVT Business Development Director.

“ As the end user of all of the REVO technologies it was a joy to watch 3 days of live demonstrations. By a simple push of a button each job was set up automatically with little user intervention producing the same results every time. Adare are excited about the endless possibilities REVO will bring to our customers. Design flexibility, shorter lead times , reduced minimum order quantities and high definition print to name just a few. The first REVO machine will be installed at Adare early July. “ added Daragh Whelan, Adare Technical Director.

“Working on REVO Digital Flexo Revolution Project has been a great experience. I believe and, as already stated loud and clear, I’m deeply impressed about the performances and features of the REVO Digital Flexo Revolution. The open house activity has reached a great success, raised high interest and I’m sure it will have many positive consequences for everybody in the near future. “ concluded Matteo Cardinotti, GIDUE Managing Director.
