Enprom’s hybrid converting line helps French packaging firm meet new regulations

Spanish engineering equipment manufacturer, Enprom, has recently supplied flexible packaging specialists, Janu’sac, with a fully customised, hybrid converting line, optimised for recyclability and compostability. The move will allow the French company to meet new stringent government packaging legislation coming into effect on 1st January 2022.

The new regulations, which are part of France’s anti-waste law for a circular economy published last February, prohibit the use of plastic packaging for unprocessed fruits and vegetables weighing less than 1.5kg (3.3lb).

Known as the eS2TA 140, the new machine has already been delivered at the converters plant. Increasing Janu’sac’s flexibility, efficiency and overall performance, the solution provides integrated printing, coating, micro/macro perforation by laser equipment, slitting, nonstop automatic rewinding, high productivity and automatic handling, all in a single line.

With its ability to add lacquer, verso or reverse print at register, protect fresh products thanks to its light and odour barriers, anti-fog surface treatment to extend the shelf life of fresh products and a perforation station to allow the permeability of the product’s container, the eS2TA 140 is an ideal solution in developing a sustainable manufacturing process at the site.

Commenting on the new hybrid line, Marc Planella, Enprom Solutions’ flexible packaging specialist, said: “At Enprom, we develop innovative solutions that reduce the impact on the environment, as well as sustainable circular economy solutions that guarantee recyclability and compostability. Demand has been generated in the market to adapt production processes to accommodate new materials - this means that in many cases new hybrid lines are required, such as the eS2TA 140, which integrates efficiently with inline different processes.”

Enprom Solutions, jointly acquired by A B Graphic and Kocher+Beck, was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Girona, near Barcelona. Its product range includes equipment for shrink sleeve, flexible packaging, converting, slitting and rewinding, label finishing, coating and lamination and hybrid converting.
