BOBST and partners roadshow in the Philippines highlights latest trends and innovations in flexible packaging and labels

The roadshow in Manila on 24 August 2016, provided the perfect setting and opportunity for BOBST and industry partners to present to the Philippines flexible packaging and label manufacturing industry the latest innovations and trends in printing and converting.

Co-hosted by BOBST agent in the Philippines, Spicers International Ltd, and held in the wake of the drupa 2016 exhibition, the roadshow was especially welcomed by both the speakers and the participants as it provided all with the opportunity of sharing and discussing brand new products and technologies relating to both equipment and consumables that BOBST and partners unveiled earlier this year on the occasion of drupa.

"The Philippine printing and converting industry is looking for innovative solutions to enter new markets and to make more efficient, profitable and sustainable, the production flow of both new and installed equipment", commented Eric Pavone, Business Development Director of BOBST Business Unit Web-fed. "So interest was particularly keen on the BOBST solutions we presented in terms of equipment and processes for adding value to functional packaging substrates, as well as on all the technology updates presented by the industry partners who joined us in this event."

High on the BOBST agenda for printing were the presentation of BOBST's unique Digital Flexo technology for narrow- and -web inline flexo printing in the web-fed flexible and carton packaging and label industry segments, the range of equipment in CI flexo printing, with special focus on the new mid- to wide-web MW range of presses and the range of gravure printing solutions from the RS 5002 gravure printing press, a best seller in Asia, to the new RS 6003 HS platform.

For converting, one presentation highlighted the brand new 'best in class' BOBST compact laminators - the multi-technology CL 750D and the solventless SL 750D machines - that can handle run lengths from ultra-short upwards, across a wide range of substrates and web combinations.

The other presentation, focused on how the BOBST range of equipment and process solutions can meet all market needs in vacuum metalling and the production of clear high barrier substrates.

Addressing regional drivers for growth, speakers from Daetwyler Graphics and Daetwyler SwissTec, DuPont, Esko, Henkel, Macchi and Rossini spoke about their value creating solutions aimed at meeting all market needs and supporting the Philippines converting industry drive towards quality, performance and competitive advantage in the various segments of the flexible material printing and converting industry.

Complementing the technical presentations, very valuable insights on the trends that shape the growth of the industry in the region were given by the representatives of Nestlé and Henkel who relayed the perspectives of brand owner companies. Henkel also presented the latest adhesive formulations in terms of the safety of food packaging.

"The roadshow has been a tremendous opportunity to bring our customers up to date with the BOBST increasingly large portfolio of machines and the new market segments where we can assist our customers. This includes both the solutions for the label market, where BOBST has widened its reach further to the latest acquisitions, and the new products lunched earlier this year", concluded Laurence Dy, Zone Business Director South East Asia, BOBST Business Unit Web-fed.
