API's foils enhance and add impact to Edale's narrow web label presses

API's foils are helping to add even greater impact to the packaging and labels produced by Edale's narrow web label presses, utilising the innovative Xaar Digital Print Bar System. Combining the know-how and experience from 3 leading UK packaging & print suppliers the new application technology is maximising the visual impact available for labels by combining flexo & digital print with API's foils to deliver innovative new visual screen effects.

Beginning with a base flexo printed label the Xaar Print Bar System is then used to apply the adhesive which then enables API's cold foil to be added as an integral part of the label design. This high-precision engineering adds single-pass digital inkjet print, varnishes or adhesive allowing the benefits of digital print & finishing to be added to label and packaging lines economically and with ease.

'Labels are an essential part of packaging not only to inform customers about the product but also to enhance the brand, helping to attract new customers through building on-shelf impact and retail presence,' said Richard Burhouse, Commercial Director at API. 'Constant innovation is therefore essential - ensuring labels add even greater impact and customer appeal to the products they promote. As the preferred supplier of foils to Edale we are extremely excited about the possibilities now available to designers through this combination of Flexo & Digital print together with API's foils to let products truly stand out and innovate.'
Lee Deyes, Technical Sales Specialist - Hybrid Print for Edale added "As a business we continually watch and focus on the ever-changing needs of the printing and packaging market, and apply our renowned design and engineering expertise to provide equipment that helps deliver quality products day-in, day-out. This new innovation using Xaar's Print Bar System & API's cold foils is a great example of how we continue to add functionality, features and impact for our customers."

With over 50 years' experience in the printing and packaging industry, Edale applies its award winning renowned British design and engineering expertise to provide equipment that helps customers to deliver quality products day-in, day-out, enhancing image, reputation and profitability.

The Xaar Print Bar System can be integrated onto a range of Edale's flexographic and digital presses and can also be custom fitted to a wide range of machines already in a production line across the UK. With a variation of web widths available up to 560mm and the versatility of multiple application possibilities the Xaar Print Bar System allows printers to evolve with the ever changing industry without the need to invest in a whole new system.

As the preferred supplier to Edale, API's cold foils add a premium high-end finish to pack labels across a wide variety of market categories and help designers meet the demands of brand owners to deliver the right message and impact for their products at the right price. This new application technology combined with the greater functionality available from API's latest foils is enabling packaging designers and printers to produce an unlimited range of metallic colours and screen effects including multi-colours and half tones which add real depth and sophistication to labels.

"With all retailers and brand owners looking to enhance their products and add real value to their packaging, this new print & foil innovation from market leading print and packaging suppliers Edale, Xaar and API adds extra depth and quality to labels meaning now the only limit is someone's imagination!' concluded Burhouse.
