The leading American manufacturer of narrow web presses, Mark Andy, will be exhibiting at Packaging Innovations for the first time. Historically renowned for its range of high-performance flexo presses for the label and printed packaging markets, Mark Andy will give a UK Premier to its new Digital One press.
Any label converter that carries more than €750,000’s worth of stock, which equates to one month’s supply, may be considered a major player – when that company is in Romania, with its relatively small and undeveloped market, it makes an even larger statement. Nick Coombes reports from Cluj-Napoca.
In what is claimed as a significant milestone in its growing market penetration in Europe, Mark Andy has made a conquest sale to leading Polish label converter Mal-Pol, based in Olesin, some 35km east of the capital city Warsaw.

One of Denmark’s leading label converters, FlexoPrint AS, has installed a Mark Andy Digital Series press at its headquarters in Randers. The inkjet/flexo line is the first in Denmark and was chosen for being a ‘true hybrid’ according to CEO Lars Ole Nauta, who commented: “We know the flexo process well and see UV inkjet as a stable production platform and the best match for the quality our clients demand. To be able to secure the best of both from one manufacturer made the choice of Mark Andy an easy one.”
As part of its strategic programme to educate the printers and converters of tomorrow, Mark Andy Europe launched a competition for students earlier this year. The aim was to encourage young people from all over Europe who are studying any subject related to art, design or printing to submit designs for labels to be printed at the Hybrid Forum Open House at Mark Andy’s European HQ in Warsaw.
