FINAT Webinar Series 2018: Systemic innovation towards a circular economy for plastics

Presented by Michiel De Smet, Policy Officer at the European Commission.

Mr. De Smet is working on research and innovation in the field of circular economy and plastics (Unit Eco-Innovation, DG Research and Innovation). Prior to this he was a project manager at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, where he worked on initiatives to accelerate the transition towards a circular future for plastics. In an age where we are encouraged to reuse and recycle our waste, we are becoming more aware of what we use. However, is this enough? Or is there more that we can be done to improve the long-run welfare of our environment, economy and society?

This webinar is intended to provide an overall picture/background on the importance of innovation and design in the context of the circular economy for plastics. Given the recent significant increases in the recycling targets set by the EU, greater recycling of plastics will be a must, which will need to be reinforced and complemented by a range of other actions towards better economic and environmental outcomes. We will learn in later webinars as to how labels impact on the recyclability of the various containers.

This webinar is particularly aimed at sustainability, R&D and innovation managers at FINAT member companies.

Registration is free of charge and for FINAT members only.
