Waste Framework Directive: EPR recommendations for guidance also under scrutiny by FINAT

A new report with recommendations for guidance on Extended Producer Responsibility was prepared by the consultancy Eunomia. A response as a statement from the paper industry is under preparation.

Extended Product Responsibility (EPR) is a policy where the responsibility (financial or physical) for the post-consumer stage of a product is shifted from local governments back to producers. EPR is implemented in the EU in the Waste Framework Directive (WFD), as well as in specific regulations like the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD).

FINAT's Sustainability & Regulatory Affairs Sub-committees are currently also reviewing the report to assess if there are any specifics related to labels (e.g. liners).
