MPS Applauds FlexoTech Award Winners Reflex Group and Stampiton Labels

MPS recognizes two customers receiving accolades at the 2015 International FlexoTech Awards ceremony, for submitted labels printed on MPS flexo presses. Award winner in the Labels (process) category was Stampiton, while Reflex topped the UV flexo, paper and board category and also received the prestigious Supreme Award. The 17th edition of the FlexoTech International Print & Innovation Awards was held the 22nd of October 2015 at the Hilton London Metropole in London, and is regarded as the most prestigious event in the industry calendar.

The winning Stampiton label ‘Graham's Scottish Low Fat Yoghurt Natural’ was printed on an MPS EF UV flexo press with 510mm web width, 5-colours CMYK plus spot blue on 60 micron PP with 12 micron PP overlaminate material. Applied was a 225 line per inch screen True HD by Reproflex 3, the pre-press supplier behind the project who worked closely with UK printer Stampiton to achieve the desired outcome. the vibrancy, tones and highlights were just some of the reasons behind the admirable award win. Also noteworthy for this winning label was the superb print registration, considering the number of images per repeat on a difficult substrate along with high definition of the process images, which further enhanced the attractively designed label.

UK printer Reflex Group received the award for their ‘Braemoor Sweet Chilli Chicken Skewers’ linerless label printed on an MPS EF UV flexo press with 510mm web width and 10 colours. Known as a leading producer of linerless labels, the winning Reflex label is used as a product decoration for a protein pack produced in Ireland and sold in Lidl supermarkets. The label was printed on 250gsm Antalis finesse paper board to provide a look and feel of a conventional carton sleeve, and an in-line crease cutter gave the ability to fold sharply round the pack to further increase shelf appeal. The superior print quality of the MPS press achieved results normally associated with litho printed carton sleeves. Reflex Group currently boasts a collection of seven industry awards for labels printed on MPS presses. 

Also awarded to Reflex Group was the prestigious FlexoTech Supreme Award for their submitted chicken skewers linerless label, selected as the best example of work amongst the other 13 winners. The judges said, 'Scoring in most categories was particularly high this year and there were many contenders for the overall Supreme champion award. This entry demonstrates what can be achieved using high quality graphics and incorporating these into a very decorative and informative piece of packaging. The quality achieved was outstanding.' This year's Supreme winner continues its expansion in the UK with the recent acquisition of SA Labels in Keighley, in Yorkshire.
