Gravure and coating demonstrations at upcoming Bobst Italia's Open House to focus on sustainability trends and opportunities diversification for BOBST's customers

True to the theme "Extending the scope, new technologies" of the event that will take place in the Competence Centre of its production plant in S Giorgio Monferrato Italy on 11 and 12 May 2017, Bobst Italia has chosen production-like demo jobs that will highlight, through their complexity and/or consumable types and specifications, the actual market trend and new technological innovations that extend the scope of gravure printing and lamination/coating, whilst fulfilling both brand-owners' and consumers' expectations on quality and sustainability.

The first gravure printing demonstration run on BOBST latest generation RS 6002C 8-color shaftless press will demonstrate the extraordinary capabilities of the press and perfect tenure of the register control that enable stretchable thin LDPE film to be printed at high speed in gravure. Perfect for sensitive substrates - including monolayer fresh product packaging - made of thinner material for the production of packaging that is less costly to produce and also fully recyclable.

The second gravure printing demonstration run on BOBST latest generation RS 6003C HS 9-color shaftless press will show how the quantum efficiency of the innovative drying system of the press enables to lower the residual solvent on the web to unprecedented levels in the industry on a typical high-end high volume confectionery production-type packaging printed at high speed.

The matt lacquering coating demonstration run on a BOBST CL 850D laminator will highlight how the stable performance at speed variations of the BOBST Registron® system provides unbeatable quality output in the production of in-register coating applications. The demo job is a complex in-register lacquering application for imparting a shelf appealing, almost tactile effect to a laminated substrate.

The efficient and sustainable operation of BOBST equipment will be evident not only in the optimized level of usage and in the minimized waste of substrates, inks and solvents, but also in the very low consumption of energy which will be displayed on dedicated screens during the demonstrations.

A packaging solution corner dedicated to illustrating applications and samples printed in gravure and laminated and/or coated in Bobst Italia's Competence Center - including the outcome of collaborative projects with leading substrates and consumable manufacturing companies - will complement the event dedicated to the state-of-the art technology for up and coming new applications and market evolution and trends.
