Bisphenol B proposed as SVHC

The French Agency for Food, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) proposed to list Bisphenol B (BPB) as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) under REACH because of endocrine disruption concerns.

According to Anses, BPB is not manufactured in the EU, but it is included in articles manufactured outside the Union, namely the US and China. The listing would require that importers of articles including more than 0.1% in weight of BPB would need to decalre its composition to downstream users.

A public consultation on the proposal is open until April 23, 2021.
