Amazon's Restricted Substance List for food packaging

Online retailer Amazon updated their chemicals policy with a Food Contact Materials Restricted Substance List for food contact packaging for products sold under the Amazon Kitchen brand. The list specifies substances for which they "seek to avoid the intentional addition" to the packaging, including chemicals already under scrutiny in different legislations such as heavy metals, phthalates, PFAS, bisphenols, NMP. Furthermore, some non-recyclable materials are "prohibited" from being used in food contact packaging, soch as polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polycarbonates, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and rigid polylactic acid (PLA).
