FINAT Technical Seminar 2018
Challenges to the label market
First call for papers
The one and a half day seminar is designed to inform and address the challenges being faced by self-adhesive labels in the overall label market and is targeted at all levels of the technical community from R&D or Production to technical directors and executives. The focus for 2018 will be on the technical challenges faced by label producers including pre-press operations, label printing and converting. It will review how our industry is changing to meet these challenges by looking at developments in printing technology, pre-press operations, converting & printing inks.
The 2018 seminar will also include an interactive ‘troubleshooting’ workshop session with the help of industry technical experts, where we can explore (through the use of an ‘imaginary’ case study of a typical label manufacturing company, FinatCo), a number of different scenarios based on common technical challenges being faced by label manufacturers.
For 2018 and the theme of “CHALLENGES TO THE LABEL MARKET” we are looking for papers covering the entire supply chain for label production:
- pre-press operations
- label manufacturing
- label printing
- label converting
- label design and use
- raw materials for labels (papers, films, foils, adhesives, silicones and varnishes)
Papers should highlight the challenges that self-adhesive materials are facing in the label market and how these can be overcome. Ever wary of these challenges the papers should show from a technical standpoint new features that help the self-adhesive industry meet the challenges it is facing.
The organising committee will consider papers from all points of the value chain but priority will be given to most interesting propositions regarding label printing/production and converting innovations. Papers will be required to have an absolute minimum of commercial aspect and need to have a real technical content that will appeal to the audience who are typically from a technical environment.
If you want to take up the challenge to show how our industry is meeting or will meet these challenges to the label market, then please send your proposal to info@FINAT.com marking your email ‘FINAT Technical Seminar 2018’ and containing the title of the paper and a short abstract (400-500 words) detailing the content and technical nature of the presentation. The organising committee will review all proposals before deciding on a final programme in order to give a comprehensive and balanced content. Furthermore, we will invite certain speakers to give us a more detailed abstract which could be published on our education website or in future issues of FINAT news.
