The FINAT World Congress takes place once a year, and is widely supported by the management of member companies of many different nationalities. Its programme, offered in simultaneous translation in at least three languages -- English, French and German -- spreads over three days, with the presentation of papers on a variety of topics relevant to the industry. Working sessions are held to inform and educate on a broad range of technical, production, and market trends.

The annual General Assembly of FINAT is also held during the World Congress, as is the formal announcement and presentation of the prizes in the FINAT International Label Competition.

The Congress traditionally takes place in alternating locations, and it is planned that it will be held in association with the principal meeting of the national label association of the host country (if existing).
